Background
At MediPro, we offer a whole-body approach to healing. The body’s way of showing imbalance is to create symptoms of disease. As the body adapts to an imperfect environment, it will compensate in what many view as a negative symptom. The goal of naturopathic medicine is to bring the body back into balance rather than suppressing these complaints. This allows our patients to truly heal and live better lives. Our doctors take whatever time is needed to really listen to each patient, discuss symptoms and life factors and holistically heal each individual they see. After all, your body is unique...your healthcare should be too.
Acupuncture uses the body’s own “qi” (pronounced “chee”) or energy to correct imbalance. It does this by stimulating specific points to help qi flow more effectively through the body. One theory is that when qi becomes blocked, it leads to pain or other symptoms, therefore, encouraging movement will allow for relief. Acupuncture has been found to be a very successful, alternative tool in treating and preventing disease in individuals with a number of complaints from headaches, anxiety, menopausal symptoms, digestive complaints and pain. To stimulate these points and affect balance in the body, the use of needles, acupressure and other non-inserted tools, moxibustion and cupping are considered for each individual.
There are far too many conditions and focus areas to list here, so don’t be discouraged if your area of concern is not mentioned. Request a consult today to see how our doctors can help you!

What to Expect
Because we treat each patient uniquely, there will be some variation. However, you can count on our doctors using your first visit to create a foundation for your health goals, an understanding for the process ahead, and to set you on the path to optimal health.
This first visit will last 60-75 minutes and includes a thorough evaluation, physical exam and treatment recommendations targeting the root of your problems (not just a band-aid).
Follow up visits are generally scheduled every 2-6 weeks while we address your complaints. These 30- to 60-minute visits allow time to discuss symptom changes, new complaints and any questions or concerns. We may make changes to treatments that better suit you or support additional needs. Creating a supportive and educational patient-doctor partnership is crucial. It allows you to feel in control of your own health and increases the likelihood of lifetime success.

All Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) attend a 4-year doctorate degree program and are considered primary care physicians by most major health insurance carriers in the state of Oregon. That means our staff can help with the majority of your health needs – and they focus on you as a whole person, instead of a specific symptom.
Our Acupuncture team consists of Dr. Hilary Sandell, Dr. Emily Gannaway, and Dr. Chris Kleronomos. Dr. Sandell says “My number one goal is educating my patients in health and wellness and setting them up for success in the future.” She specializes in primary care, chronic condition management, and acupuncture. Dr. Gannaway says “I am a problem solver and I put in the time to figure out the root cause of what is ailing my patients, instead of just putting a band-aid on them.” She specializes in primary care, women’s care (including manual therapy to treat reproductive issues, back pain, and weight loss), and naturopathic pediatric care.
